The Irrigander 2/4 expander is a 4 zone irrigation expander designed to expand systems that do not have additional outputs available on the irrigation controller. The Irrigander 2/4 expander has 2 inputs that drive 2 output zones normally. While each of those 2 zones are running, the microprocessor records the run times on each zone. After the Zone 2 input completes the Irrigander 2/4 expander will run the second set of 2 zones with the recorded timings.
The Irrigander 4 expander is comprised of two types of modules: an Encoder that is installed close to or inside the sprinkler controller; a Decoder that is installed close to the valves to be controlled. The Encoder is attached to the Decoder using up to 3 wires. These wires are typically the existing field control wires in the irrigation systems to be expanded. The decoder has 4 outputs that are attached to each of up to 4 valves for the lawn sprinklers or garden irrigation systems (Irrigander 2/4 Expander diagram). The Irrigander 4 expander can drive from 2 to 4 zones in the irrigation system depending on the number of field wires in the existing installation. Detailed specifications are in the User Guide, available below. Application information on the Irrigander 4 expander is available on our Applications page.
