Surge protection is vital to the reliable operation of the Irrigander Pro family of irrigation expanders. The Irrigander Pro expander Decoders and Encoders use metal oxide varistor (MOV) surge suppression technology to minimize the potential damage from lightning and other electrical surges. This is the same surge protection technology found in surge protection power strips used to protect computers and other sensitive electronic devices. While this protection is very reliable, proper installation of the Irrigander Pro expander system will enhance this protection. Field cable runs longer than 300 feet should have Irrigander Surge Suppressors added for every additional 300 feet between the Encoder and the Decoder.
